ther should be a place to click to alow it. or you can lower your securety settings long enough to update.
That depends on what site you are visiting. If you are ABSOLUTELY sure that the site is trustworthy, go ahead and allow the controls.
Otherwise, you are inviting malware.

Can a router control the speed of my Internet?
Okay, let me preface this question by saying that I really do not have a lot of knowledge of computers or the internet, so please make your answer as english as you can. I live in a house with 4 computers and 1 internet connection with all 4 computers hooked up to the same router. Up until now my internet speed has been fine, no complaints. However, as of late my internet connection has been going painfully slow, and I'm starting to think it has something to do with the router. The router is in my brother's room, and he is a super World of Warcraft junkie, he dropped out of school, plays it all the time, etc. Now, I have noticed on several occasions he has unplugged me from the router to make his own internet run faster. Now that my internet has suddenly began to run painfully slow, my first instinct is that he has done something else in order to prove his own internet speed. So my question is, would it be possible for him to do something like that? Slow my internet down to improve the speed of his own? Sorry about the longness of this question, but I really am sick of him being selfish and doing his best to hog the internet. Thanks guys. Can a router control the speed of my Internet?
Yes. He can control your bandwidth thru the router and give himself more and priority.

How can I control a motor via the internet?
For a project I am working on, I would like to be able to control a simple DC motor over the internet. I don't need to do much, just turn on and off a few of these; variable control would also be nice. Is there a program or chip that, through a common USB port or something, could let me do that?
Thanks! How can I control a motor via the internet?
If you have a computer at the other end to receive the internet then it's a bit easier, you can pick up microcontrollers which can interface with the serial connection on the computer really easily (large percentage have serial comms peripherals or you could just bit-bang a virtual serial port on the MCU) and then you could simply send the appropriate control data down the serial connection from pc to mcu and then send the appropriate motor control signals from the mcu to motor.
You could get usb compatible mcu's and the likes, but they are often sold as surface mount devices and thus rather more difficult to attach to boards with their annoyingly small pin-pitch and they are more expensive than a serial-enabled mcu and probably a good bit harder to program for as you need to waffle about with the usb HID spec, which I can't say I know much about so maybe you won't have that hurdle.
I'd recommend you stick with a serial port connection, it's simpler and if it's just a hobby/school project, it should be absolutely fine to use that.

Any software for controlling bandwidth usage for all users using a router to share the internet connection?
I am using a DST 604 T D-link router and many people are using, sharing the internet connection. However it is difficult to monitor the bandwidth or usage of each user. If 1 uses peer to peer download programs, all users experiences lagging in connection. Is there a software to monitor the bandwidth usage for each user so that I can find out who is the BAD APPLE ? ThanksAny software for controlling bandwidth usage for all users using a router to share the internet connection?

if you just want to find out who is using your bandwidth you can look at log file whos up address comes up more offen. And you can restrict access for this ip or mac address.Any software for controlling bandwidth usage for all users using a router to share the internet connection?
What you're looking for is called QoS, or Quality of Service, and your router does not have it. Unfortunately, there's no way to put it on that router. You could make users limit their speeds in their file sharing program, that would alleviate your problem. Make sure you limit both download AND upload speeds so that they ALL add up to no more than 80% of your advertised speed.

If the internet is the infant stage of the supreme being, and it will eventually control all reality...?
...does that explain why the Bible is full of weird kinky porn, immorality, and violence? When will the Internet (PBUH) start to require a tithe? If the internet is the infant stage of the supreme being, and it will eventually control all reality...?
What the heck are you talking about? If the internet is the infant stage of the supreme being, and it will eventually control all reality...?
Hopefully it will be a UNIX or Mac-based reality. Yes, the porn is much more interesting - and immediate and all-pervasive - in this cyber world reality.
The internet already requires tithing. I pay 30 bucks a month for my internet. If I don't they shut it off lol.
The problem with your question is that it assumes that there is a reality to begin with.
But surely the Supreme Bean works in mysterious ways. As you should well know.
You mean the internet doesn't already control all reality?

They say no one controls the internet?
If that is the case, what if all the companies that run servers and run providers were taken away where would that leave the internet? They say no one controls the internet?
The meaning behind that sentence is that no one *specific* has
control. Of course if *everyone* pulls the plug there's nothing
to connect to. Doesn't invalidate the statement imo.
Besides that. It would leave the internet where it was before.
In universities, military and research facilities. They say no one controls the internet?
WE WOULDN'T HAVE ANY CONNECTIONS.
Put it this way. Every computer that is connected to the internet is part of the internet coz any computer can be used as a hosting server. To switch off the internet, u will need to switch off all the computers which are connected to the internet.

How can filmmakers control the information that appears on the internet?should they take these steps?y or not?
Filmmakers can only control the showing of any portions of their movie that is released on the Internet. The showing of any part of their film is under their control. Any other information released is not under their control. However any critic that would release the whole plot and ending of the movie would not be in the business very long.

The best advise if your experiencing something weird, is to reboot, then try it again, if it doesn't work then that means that whatever site you are trying to access is either no longer in existence or you are misspelling the URL. In worst case scenario, download Internet Explorer or go to www.Mozilla.com
The browser goes to live search when the domain name is not resolved immediately. It may use google, yahoo or msn depending on the defaults.
To avoid it, type the url like http://yahoo.com/
instead of www.yahoo.com.

For Mac OS 10.4, why do the parental controls on internet surfing always reset when I start up?
I set parental controls on the internet on one user's account. But after a while, when I go and check the status, instead of seeing ';Managed';, it is always back at ';Standard'; (free access to all internet). Is there a way where I don't have to reset the controls every day?For Mac OS 10.4, why do the parental controls on internet surfing always reset when I start up?
I assume the user is an admin user and thus has the power to set things back they way he/she likes it. Why don't you setup their account as a non-admin user? That should take the controls out of their hands.

Is it legal to order controlled substance drugs to my adress in USA from an internet pharmacy ?
I have seen pharmaceutical drugs for sale on pharmacy websites including schedule two and schedule three controlled substances . Do they have their own doctors to write a prescription ?Is it legal to order controlled substance drugs to my adress in USA from an internet pharmacy ?
It is illegal for them to sell or you to received controlled substances into the USA. I buy my medication from reputable online pharmacies that do not sell narcotics like http://www.4-rx.net or http://www.xldiscountpharmacy.com
Hope this helps. Is it legal to order controlled substance drugs to my adress in USA from an internet pharmacy ?
Off shore pharmacies (outside the US) will mail drugs that are legal to mail from their respective countries and they don't break any laws by doing so. Whether or not it's legal for you to purchase these drugs is a gray area. If you have any doubts, don't do it: If you can't get the drugs you are seeking from a US doctor, there is probably a reason why they are turning you down. Shopping for a third-world doctor is probably not the best decision you can make unless your only motivation is that you can't afford the US brand name version of a drug. If that's the case then good luck and I hope that what you are getting is what you think you are ordering.
Don't order controlled substances classes 1-4. They monitor that, and it's probably a ripoff anyway.
It is illegal for any American to import drugs. No reputable mail order/internet pharmacy will have their doctors write a prescription for you. They only accept previously written prescriptions.
nope, but they will ask the cops to do the delivery ...

Colinc is on the right path. The program is actually called TightVNC and stands for Tight Virtual Network Console.
It essentially loads a screen on your PC of the remote PC's desktop. You are then able to use your keyboard and mouse on the remote pc, from your current location just like you are trying to do.
What you are not being told is that TightVNC is a royal pain in the butt to setup if you plan on accessing remote pc's over the internet. In this case or in any case, I have been recommending the use of Hamachi (www.sat-ops.com/hamachi.exe) as it will laoow you to create a private virtual network that all of your PC's at all locations can join and be accessible by TightVNC as well as accessible as a networked PC.
Hamachi also provides you with a FREE Static IP in addition to your current IP. Talk about the new hotness.....

Use the Remote assistance that XP has built it. You have to email a request to connect to the machine you want to connect to. I do it on my home network all the time. I have email account setup through Outlook express on all my machines so I can request and confirm the connection easily.
The easiest way to do this is to download tightvnv. See the link below. Once installed on all the machines set up the vncserver as a service, it has an option for this in the programme menu. Then use the vncviewer from your machine to connect.

it started by a Microsoft error and when I tried to download the new Norton antivirus. now it is all messed up. it still lets me go onto the internet which is a plus but it won't let me click on an address on a web page to go there but I can put it into my favorites and I can from there. My comp will go to the internet but won't open my control panel, my documents, ect. what will fix this?
A bit more information would be helpful. Like what system? Windows95, XP? What error message did you get? If it's XP, use system restore to go back to a time when it worked.
Next, whichever system, do an on line virus scan to make sure you have no bad things in the system, followed by something like adaware to get out any thing there. Start with http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ then google for adaware and spybot and update and run those. How does one disable a wireless internet system/connection without having control of it/its not theirs?
I have an older family member who lives in an apartment complex and he has a wireless internet connection. Every so often it gets disabled by some one else in the apartment complex and I have to go and help her reconnect it. She and I suspect that someone is, from their laptop/computer, disabling her wireless connection. 1. How do they do it? She wants me to have a little fun with the other wireless connection in the complex so the ';kids'; know to not mess with her internet. Will they know - as in can we/they see our IP Address/computer name when they disable her internet. AND 2. Besides, encryption, is it easy to stop it? She doesn't want me to encrypt it, but being in an apartment complex, almost anyone can use it so we don't have other options!?!?How does one disable a wireless internet system/connection without having control of it/its not theirs?
i highly suggest encriptoin because if you dont and if the kids are as smart as you say they may be with computers they may end up changing the encriptoin for them self and you will be in trouble then. also if the look up illegal material it is all traced back to your router. How does one disable a wireless internet system/connection without having control of it/its not theirs?
The short answer is wireless access to the router's web-based admin pages. Anyone who has that can do all sorts of things to the network.
Assuming the wireless connection belongs to your family member, rather than just fight fire with fire, here are some steps you can take to secure it for them. (If the connection does NOT belong to your family member, why are they using it?)
These are all done from the router's web-based administration pages via an Ethernet-connected computer. (Wireless access to those pages is a big security risk.)
1. Disable wireless access to your router's admin pages. Leave admin access for wired machines only. You don't have to keep one machine ON a wire, just leave a wire hanging from the router and connect to it when you need access to the admin pages.
2. Turn off the SSID beacon (broadcasting). You're not running a WiFi hotspot; all your computers should know the network name.
3. Change the SSID (network name) from the factory default so hackers can鈥檛 guess it.
4. Turn on encryption: WEP (for 802.11B/G networks) or WPA (for pure 802.11G networks).
5. Change the router administrator password.
6.Reduce the number of DHCP (automatic IP addressing) addresses in the router to the number of computers you have and no more.
Hope that helps.

i had a problem with that. i dont know if this will work for you but if you have a similar laptop to mine then go to start and open it up. At the bottom of the box thing it says 'start search' and you type in a word eg norton and all the things on your laptop that has the word norton will come up. Then i just right clicked and deleted. You might want to go to your recycle bin and delete again lol...if this dont work then, i tried lolHow do I COMPLETELY remove Norton Internet Security WITHOUT going to control panel?
FIRST, you go to RUN on the start menu, then you type in %TEMP% Delete all of the temporary internet files there. (Parts of it could be hiding in your temporary internet files). If you have any problems getting to RUN, the shortcut is holding the ';Start button'; and ';R'; together.
Then you should go to SEARCH on the start menu, then click the link that says, ';all files all folders';. Type in ';Norton';. Delete anything that has to do with Norton internet security. You can also type things in like ';internet';, and ';security'; to find additional places Norton might be on your computer. But it is VERY IMPORTANT that you don't delete everything in there, just anything that has to do with Norton. You don't want to delete any other useful files to your computer.
Then, empty your recycle bin and restart your computer. It should be off your computer.
Hope this helps. :)
Bad unistall of anti-virus program can cause many problems. So do not go into program files and delete Norton. That won't work and could give you all kinds of problems. Open Norton, at the top right corner click on help and support. Then about. That will tell you which Norton is on your computer. Then go to Norton and get the removal tool. Then Open Norton up and turn off all protection. Then use add and remove programs to uninstall Norton. After you restart your computer. Run the Norton removal tool. Then restart again. Norton will be gone, and you will have a good uninstall and should not have problems when you install your new anti-virus program.
If you have a new computer, the link you have posted is the right tool. So you have the right link. Follow my instructions.
Do like RonS is telling you. The ONLY way to completely get rid of Norton is to go to the Symantec web site and use the Norton Removal Tool. Been there, done that! This will get Norton out of your registry too!

..try to go to the location of the file then press shift then delete...it will delete the file you want to delete without going to the recycle bin..
go to the program files under the c:/ drive and delete the folder that contains norton
but idk if that will get rid of it 100%
I remember going through this debacle about 3 months ago. What I ended up doing was literally re-installing my entire operating system (Windows XP), and then installing McAfee.
Why?
Because apparently (I could be wrong on the exact terminology as I am no computer expert...), Norton actually ';attaches'; itself to virtually every file on your computer like a ';friendly'; virus/worm, and monitors all of your files that way. This also explains why every system running Norton runs so much friggin' slower than an identical system running McAfee (or other less intrusive/';fat'; antivirus programs). Plus, this also makes Norton ridiculously hard to COMPLETELY get rid of as well.
Ever since re-installing my operating system (brought my system back to ';day 1'; status, completely removing Norton and all other unused/unwanted applications from my computer), and installing McAfee, my system has run faster by a long shot.
You can try downloading ';Norton remover'; programs if re-installing your operating system sounds too daunting, however be warned that many of these can be ';laced'; with viruses, worms, trojans, spyware/adware, etc. - so be very careful. I love McAfee and my system is faster so I'm happy I did what I did.
Hope this helps.

I am also internet administrater, how can I ';unpassword protect the internet options function in the control
panel? It has been blocked there. My husband and I are both ';administraters'; but he the whiz, I'm not. He has removed the internet options from the control panel, also the tool bar as I cannot bring the dialog box down after clicking on Tools. It will immediately disappear. He has fixed my settings where I can't clear my history, but he does'nt have a history at all. I suspect he is going into sites a married man should'nt. My reason for wanting to know is so I might get his history back up and running to see what he is doing . Please, how can I bring his history back so I can know once and for all.We both have separate login accounts without a password for either. Thanks!!I am also internet administrater, how can I ';unpassword protect the internet options function in the control
So, you want to get into a ';hacking war'; with your husband so you can spy on his Internet usage.
You may want to look into getting councilling or at least your own computer.

Leaviong a man is one of the dangerous moments for a woman, so you need to be prepared and not be hasty.
I searched ';help for abusive women in savannah, ga'; (I live here, but insert your town) and the first site that came up was a list of women's shelters. Find a shelter close to you. And call them. Lots of abusive husbands put their wives in the same situation to insure they stay. These shelters will give you a place to stay, help with a job, clothes, child care, they offer many ways to help. Just pick up the phone.

Whoah? Wait a minute. Don't you have any family? Are you on medication and is he trying to help you with that? If you want to end it, you might need medication. Do you think medication might make you see your husband in a different light?%26gt;
So, you have a computer. Why don't you look it up on the internet????
And why haven't you called the police yet?
Why haven't you contacted a woman's outreach centre?
Call this number any time day or night:1-800-799-SAFE (7233)
Forget the internet. Pick up the good ol telephone and call the police.
It surely would be a lot easier to end it all, but then you'd just be whipped right back into this life to do it all over again until you get it right.
Some mistakes were meant to be made and did you not choose him?? Yes, of course you did not see it coming, because you followed your heart and did not use your brains, they were ';never'; meant to be used seperately, so of course you ignored all the warning signs, because they ';were'; there.
Abusers look for certain ';types'; of women, so you best figure out what it is that they can spot, but i have some good ideas.
Abusive men can spot women who are needy, lack confidence, are dependent, who'd rather give in than assert themselves, who allow them to control, allow them to make all the decisions, who allow them to do all the choosing, give in easy, do not know how to speak up or stand up for themselves, who are naive or refuse to see the behavior, who believe only a man can fulfill and complete their lives, who think it's up to another person to ';make'; them happy, who think love cures all, that any faults would magically get better after marriage and who usually don't have brother and fathers that might actually stand up to them and rip their faces off.
He treated you in a manner that was too good to be true. You thought it was cute and loving when he showed signs of jealousy, when common sense tells one that they are 2 different words for a reason, etc.
There is absolutely no reason women should be falling into this trap in this day and age.
The info and warnings are in you face daily.
He happens to have practiced this little by little when he was dating you and you chose to ignore it. You happily handed him your life, so he could do it all for you.
Now you need to stop, you can't possibly not know about Women's Shelters call information and ask, look on the front pages of any phone book, playing the ignorant innocent victim need to stop. That is how you got yourself into this mess. Believe me it will be uncomfortable and tough for a while but that is life and we've all felt it at sometime, if not then we will. Besides you could use the pratice.
Women who don't take control of their lives will fall into this trap several times.
Now grow up, stand up and help yourself only you can do it. Phone your family if they are half decent ppl, then they ';will'; help you get home forget any pride that holds you back.
You have obviously ignored you instincts far to long, learn to listen to them, ';no one'; is without any.
Hope thing work out.

Paedophiles using the internet to abuse kids? STRICTER CONTROL REQUIRED ?
Is anybody else worried about the number of young kids posting questions on Yahoo Answers ( ie 12 and younger)..
it bothers me for two reasons.. ONE these kids often give their ages and locations .. and I am afraid that predators will use the information the kids supply to pretend that they are kids ...
and TWO ... I wonder how many of these so called KIDS aren't actually kids but the predators themselves
should Yahoo Answer's moderating staff be more mindful of such questions being posted...?Paedophiles using the internet to abuse kids? STRICTER CONTROL REQUIRED ?
The biggest problem with this is the anonymity of the people that use the internet due to the fact that the only communication source is what you see in a text format on a computer screen. Many children don't seem to realize the potential for their information from their questions to be used to track them down and freely give the info cause they seem to believe in their ignorance that no-one will hurt them.
Additionally the regulation of the users is near impossible due to internet cafes and shared computers which make it highly improbable that there will be particular age groups on the system.
The last thought i have is how many of these 'kids' could be bait for the predators i.e adults pretending that they are kids to try catch the predators in the act of trying to harm children or protectors who do track down the children to give a warning to their parents.Paedophiles using the internet to abuse kids? STRICTER CONTROL REQUIRED ?
If they play in a grownup area, suffer a grownup pain.
i don't know,. is it any different than letting your child walk alone?
I think it is the responsibility of the parents to keep a check on their children. The government already has it's hands in too many private issues..but if you ask me about pedophiles, I would say that I wish the death penalty was available for them!
I find this question an interesting one. It is good to be aware that predators are around however statistically speaking the most dangerous place for a child to be is the family home. This is because the human heart is so dark and deceptive.
It's easier for one or two parents to monitor their own child's behavior than it is for the Yahoo staff to monitor everyone's children for them.
Yeah I know what you mean. Like with myspace, and facebook. I feel if the parents are comfortable with their kids getting on these things. Then DON'T LET THEM. If you have common sense you wont give information about yourself.
BE SMART KIDS.
i asked a similar question and it was deleted, i am gonna appeal
i also see many kids under 13 around here
but their parents should control them in first place
yahoo wrote the regulations because of their lawyers 'pressure
I think the parents should be watching their kids more closely.
Education.
So many kids lie about their age just to post things on the internet. Parents should be watching their kids!!!!!

Has my internet crush gotten out of control?
There's this guy I really have developed a strong crush on over the internet. We have never met. Been talking for 3 mos. Suddenly he is trippin and being mean towards me. Ignoring my IM's and acting like I have done something wrong to him. I feel like he is mad at me for some reason..but won't tell me what it is. If I send him a IM he responds with ';WHATEVER!'; like I am full of bullshit or somethin. I dont know what I did, but he is mad at me...I can tell. Anywayz I am crushed...I just want him to be my friend again. I am miserable...heartbroken... am I pathetic? If yall say I am...then I will not get mad...I will prolly laugh...lol. The only thing that makes me mad or sad is his attitude towards me. Holla at me people...let me have it. I'm a loser right?Has my internet crush gotten out of control?
dude the more you begg a guy the more they act mad okay ignore him log in and **** but dont send him nothing act like you dont give a **** about him okay trust me it works
hes a dumb jerk just ignore him till he realizes u dont care and hes gonna see wuts upHas my internet crush gotten out of control?
You're not a loser, just let it go. Try your best to avoid internet crushes. Internet crushes are unhealthy. You should try your best to avoid it by answering and earning points on Yahoo Answers. I'm sure you can help a lot of girls and guys who are going through the same situation as you. Good luck, he sounds childish and stupid, you can move on, you're better than a computer.
Its the internet, do you actually know to who you are talking to. people can be any one they wish they were. You should go out and leave your computer alone for a while. Talk to real people you can see. Its not the end of the world.
His wife probably found out he was flirting with girls online. Hell, it could be his wife answering for him.
Good thing you havent met him yet in person! Find other guys to be friends with, this one isnt worth losing your self esteem over.
You're not a loser.
Maybe he just found a relationship with someone in real life, so he's trying to let go of you so he doesn't feel unfaithful to his girlfriend.
delete him from your address book.and send him a message telling him to grow up and get help
Hes probably 50 years old.
And doesnt want to get closer to you.
:D
No, u r not a loser. You haven't even met the guy in person. You don't even know his real life ie he's dating someone else or he's married. Get over him. You deserve better and stay away from internet relationships.
Who gives a **** if hes mad or not, you dont even know him. And no your not a loser, you just need to realize that it is what it is........ an internet crush and nothing more.
Obviously something is bothering him, maybe in real life. Could be he's married and got caught by his wife talking to other women. Either way you should back off for a while and not talk to him. Give it a few months to cool down then email him if he hasn't contacted you already and ask if there is a problem. The best way to get people to talk to you again is to ignore them for a loooonggggg time.
don't do the internet crush thing..just think if he's moody now..how bad is he in real life??? hope u didn't give him any personal info! be safe.

Obviously something is bothering him, maybe in real life. Could be he's married and got caught by his wife talking to other women. Either way you should back off for a while and not talk to him. Give it a few months to cool down then email him if he hasn't contacted you already and ask if there is a problem. The best way to get people to talk to you again is to ignore them for a loooonggggg time.
don't do the internet crush thing..just think if he's moody now..how bad is he in real life??? hope u didn't give him any personal info! be safe.
I cannot access my internet options menu. Not by clicking on Tools, & not by going into the control panel &?
clicking on Internet Options there, because my husband has obviously disabled it. Someone said I could go to start menu and click on Run, then type msconfig. But please what are the next steps. I need more information. Thanks!I cannot access my internet options menu. Not by clicking on Tools, %26amp; not by going into the control panel %26amp;?
go to start and see if you have a program called tweak ui. I'm not on a computer that has it installed right now but I think its one of the internet explorer settings in that programI cannot access my internet options menu. An easier way to do it is to use system restore to turn your system back to before hubby messed it up.
Start %26gt; Help and Support %26gt;Undo changes with system restore.
Pick a restore point before the change was made and bob's your uncle! :)

If Russia invaded and conquered the US would Russia then also control all US based internet sites?
I have a friend from the US named Kimberley and she said that if Russia invades the US the worst thing she can think of that Russian troops can do to her (other than kill her) is close down all her favorite internet sites such as Youtube, facebook or Yahoo.
So if Russia captures the US will all the US made internet sites get controled or closed?
PS: I told her that other than kill her or close down her favorite internet sites theres nothing else Russian or invading troops can do to her.If Russia invaded and conquered the US would Russia then also control all US based internet sites?
They'll probably send all americans to the gulagsIf Russia invaded and conquered the US would Russia then also control all US based internet sites?
Haha. If Russia invaded the US, the last thing your stupid friend would be worried about is access to you YouTube, Facebook, and Yahoo. Jesus...
Watch Red Dawn.
you dont have to be worried about Russia (or China, a more realistic threat) shutting down your favorite websites. ever year of 'internet 2'? censored internet coming to a US town near you!! Your own government is your largest threat.
corporations are as large and rich as nations..they dont need to worry about an invasion, they are independently owned.
If the Russian ever did invade (not going to happen - they don't want to anyway) it would be very stupid of them to take away your internet. They would want to get the people on their side to stop them uprising.
if they didn't bomb the **** out of the cities or wherever the mainframes are kept for these sites then they may keep them open but it may be controlled like the nazi propaganda machines.
Prolly not, cuz like those pesky Satellites.

Does the ipod touch 3rd generation 8 gb have any internet parental controls?
i need to know bcause i can olny get one if it doesDoes the ipod touch 3rd generation 8 gb have any internet parental controls?
Unfortunately they all do.
You can only be 18+ to buy an iPod Touch. Your parents have to buy it.Does the ipod touch 3rd generation 8 gb have any internet parental controls?
hahaha! I think it's possible, but LIE and say something like the following,
';iPods have a special firewall built into safari that makes it impossible to access sites with certain words in them, meaning you can't access porn sites or other stuff like that.';
Any parents so epically lame as to require that will be easily satisfied with such an explanation.
There is some way that parents can control your iPods searching capabilities, but it would be incredibly stupid to actually let them figure that out for themselves!
Sorry, every single ipod touch has parental controls.

Do you feel the Internet is making people feel like they have more direct control of democracy. ?
I think it's introduced a lot of people to the concept of people power, yes.
I don't think it's given people the impression that they are in control, however. Do you feel the Internet is making people feel like they have more direct control of democracy. ?
There is no universally accepted definition of 'democracy'.
But yes, as you have said internet have made people think that they have more freedom of communicating.
As you can see there is a big as*hole troll named as ';Chaos Patterns'; who going here and there saying mindless asshole things. He considers it as his freedom. Do you feel the Internet is making people feel like they have more direct control of democracy. ?
Yes I can rule the world now dam it !

Has the internet system and its service providers become censored and thus controlled ?
One can be ';reported'; or have ones question/answer deleted from yahoo but at the same time , if one chooses, recieve highly explicit, gruesome and offensive material over the net.
Is this not double standards and has the net lost its format for absolute freedom of expression?Has the internet system and its service providers become censored and thus controlled ?
There really is no intent of 'absolute freedom', on the net or anywhere else. There are always rules and limitations. That is the basis of our society. Since this particular site is privately owned by Yahoo, they get to make the rules -- and enforce them as well. Other sites can do the same.
The only thing that absolute freedom on the internet will ultimately do is cause absolute privacy invasion.Has the internet system and its service providers become censored and thus controlled ?
The problem is that there is no one person who controls the Internet. All websites, like yahoo, are privately owned and therefore are allowed to set their own rules as long as they do not violate federal law.

You may want to try going to the computer's manufactionar's website, going to the email support website for microsoft windows (on another computer), running an anti-virus software to check to see if maybe the problem is a virus, or going to a computer place like Geeksquad.

Internet Explorer closes yahoo mail after control x enabling, why?
Internet Explorer closes yahoo mail after control x enabling?
this happens when the tracking cookies are blocked by ';AD-AWARE'; / LAVASOFT ADWATCH..its happens almost always all the time , is yahoo aware of this problem ?
Do you have similar problems ?
Would a window update to Vers. Windows Internet Explorer 7.0 for Windows XP, solve the problem ?
I am at loss, and so is my techie friend.
Please help
thanks
PS..I do NOT have the BETA mail version,
knowing quite well that Beta versions still can have glitches ;o(Internet Explorer closes yahoo mail after control x enabling, why?
Yahoo has been having major server issues since at LEAST Jan. 10, seemingly just with particular servers. And what's happening to you is unfortunately one of the many problems that people are having because of them, and Yahoo doesn't seem to be in any particular hurry to solve them. And the problems are not just w/Yahoo Beta or IE7; I and others not using either are having similar problems. But both do have more problems; if you're using Beta, it's still in the testing stage and has a lot of problems, so go back to original Yahoo mail, and the same w/IE7, go back to IE6 until MS irons out all the problems.
I've had to use another acct.provided free by my ISP to send/rcv important e-mails since Jan. 10, and it's been working just fine the whole time. If you don't have another acct.w/another provider besides Yahoo, I'd strongly advise to get one; it makes a good backup in case of problems like this.
Please see my posting from Fri. Jan. 12 under the heading ';Anyone having problems of any kind w/Yahoo Mail, PLEASE READ THIS'; for more info and on reporting problems to Yahoo.
Since that original posting, they've also sent another e-mail that they've escalated the problem (or should I say problems!) to their engineering department, which is an indication of major problems, and not just a minor S/W ';glitch.'; And again, these problems are not exclusive to Yahoo's Beta, but it does seem to compound the existing problems. This would indicate to me that there are also compatibility issues btwn. the H/W and S/W, besides the server problems.
So it's not anything you're doing, your computer, or your internet connection, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. And BTW, deleting temp files (which your computer automatically does anyway every time you shut down your computer), cookies, or history will absolutely NOT fix the problem, nor will running disk cleanup or defrag.

My sis blocked the internet on my Hp vista laptop, how can i disband the parental controls on it?
she just left 1 or 2 sites allowed but i cant go on any other sites. i want to find a way to use some internet sites without removing the parental controls on the internet. THNX to whoever helps :}
BTW she has a password and i cant remove the parental controls without her password. My sis blocked the internet on my Hp vista laptop, how can i disband the parental controls on it?
use a certain software called a keylogger - it'll create a text file of every key entered into the computer, that way when she uses the laptop you can find out her password and take over the admin account [although it still takes a bit of guesswork to find out which part of the text is the password but thats a small price to pay]
try this one:
http://download.cnet.com/Shadow-Keylogge鈥?/a>My sis blocked the internet on my Hp vista laptop, how can i disband the parental controls on it?
You said 'MY' laptop, which is it, hers or yours?
Of course you can always play 'mean' right back by telling her to take off the control or you will deny her the privilege of going on-line altogether.
(PS: You will not be affected!)
You like that idea?
Easy to do, heh heh.
Tell her first though and give her a chance to redeem herself, if she refuses follow the following commands to the letter:
1. Delete the desktop shortcut fo your browser, right-click it %26gt; Delete.
It will automatically be sent to the Recycle Bin where you can 'Restore' it for yourself later.
2. Start up Windows Explorer, find the Browser, right-click the folder %26gt; Delete, same thing happens, sent to Recycle Bin for you to 'Restore' it later.
3. Do the same for any other Browsers you may have on your Desktop, so there is no icon for a Browser on the Desktop.
She will not be able to get on-line as there won't be an icon for it, but you can always go to 'Recycle Bin' and 'Restore' them. They will all be put back where they were originally.
If she knows how to do it herself, I have many more tricks up my sleeve but this is the most 'effective' one with not too much work.
Should you need more info, you can email me and we will make life difficult for her.
PS: I need both your ages to be sure about your situation.
;-)
Well, without that password, you are...as the saying goes...SOL. Sorry.
yes just reinstalled the software
She probably did it for you own good.bella cosmetics

Could the internet as a whole ever be controlled or censored by private interests?
What would they have to do to acquire this level of control?Could the internet as a whole ever be controlled or censored by private interests?
More easily than anyone wants to think. I'll leave it to others to summarize here for you; for now I just suggest digging into the net neutrality argument and some of the scarier scenarios projected by opponents of private regulation.Could the internet as a whole ever be controlled or censored by private interests?
It allready is.
You haven't heard! I've already typed too much. Look into the Fiber Optic Network the we already paid the phone and cable companies to build 10 years ago, and never did.
By a single individual? No. But government agencies are already censoring alot of the information that is put on the web and closing down sites that are not seen as 'friendly' to what they want us to think.Im not meaning this in a conspiracy way, but as a fact in that a site that shows information of a 'sensitive' nature will be shut down
Google does have an unhealthy grip on the Internet in that it records search patterns and dictates what you will see if you use its search engine based on commercial interests.
Governments can also limit what people in certain countires can view, but on the whole information is now more freely available than ever before including giving access on how to make a nuclear bomb.
I hope not! Of course some websites should be eradicated but we're talking about general freedom of speech here. I doubt if a private concern would ever be allowed to censor the Internet - for one thing it's to darn big! Privacy is a huge issue on the Internet however, and there are hundreds (thousands) of websites that discuss this and offer anonymity solutions. I hope, in the end, common sense will prevail and the Internet will be allowed to be self-censoring with users reporting in-appropriate sites.

How do you remove parental control from Trend Micro Internet systems?
I have an updated version of Trend Micro Internet Systems and somehow I made a mistake shutting down my computer so that when I open it up I get this clanging sound and it tells me to wait to go into the internet until my ';parents'; set up the parental controls. I am a grown woman and the only one using the computer so I don't need parental controls How do I ';disconnect'; from it so that I don't that clanging noise and prompt to wait until my parents set things up before I go on the internet? Hope this all makes sense. How do you remove parental control from Trend Micro Internet systems?
You must have set a password or it would let you in. Unless you know what you set, you will probably now need to re-install the system to recover.

Are they going to control and restrict the internet just like in china?
alex jones has been warning this but, the guest he has on his show, more and more of them are agreeing with him that they are planning to control the internet , because the nwo dont want people to learn what they're really doing , what they're really about..
and that it can be easily done to control and restrict the net, by a simple '' keystroke '' because everybodys hub and activity online goes over a national type grid.
the NWO are panicking because people are waking up to them through the free medium of the internet - the governments and NWO dont want this so they are planning to take over and control the internet very soon..
but very subtly like censoring youtube, phasing out free speech, banning limewire , restricting google using the reason : '' terrorist can use it to plot '' using the same reason for myspace as a reason to heavily restrict and censor it.
heres the recenr video where alex guest are agreeing that this is what their going to do to the internet and are planning it as they speak.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMk6MUjm7鈥?/a>
alex and his supporters are even aware that theres those who dismiss his claims, saying hes a '' nut '' or a '' loon '' - not believing of government takeover of the internet....and they are worried trying to find a way to warn people.
this government takeover and restriction, censorship of the net will happen worldwide , not just in the U.SAre they going to control and restrict the internet just like in china?
Boy, those fear-mongers are really warming up, aren't they?
China is NOT a free country; the United States is. Obama doesn't have the power to control and restrict the internet.
But just in case, I've stocked up on plastic sheeting and duct tape....

Can I remotely control HVAC through the internet?
I have a summer rental home and I want to remotely control the HAVC mainly the AC during the summer. Tenants leave the AC and open the windows.. They also turn the AC down to the 50's. When I get to the house it's like a refrigerator.. I am tired of cooling the outside, but also interested in monitor and control the heat during the winter months while it is vacant. I just had a problem where the heat did not shut off. My entire home was about 160 degrees inside. Cabinets and walls floors all warped..
I'd like to do this over the internet... what products and where would I buy the most reliable product? Can I remotely control HVAC through the internet?
Yes. What you're talking about are x-10 modules. This site http://www.hometech.com/home/appl.html has some information that may help you.
The technology has been around for years but with the advance of the internet it should be much easier to control.

Does the modem control the MBPS for internet speed?
We switched to Quest because our previous internet providers were very bad. So we received service today, but needed a new modem. So the guy who came to set up our internet is lending us a modem right now that has about 3 MBPS. My mom ordered the premium package that has 7 MBPS. The tech guy slightly explained that even though we will receive a 7 MBPS service, we may still get 3 MBPS because the the piping that leads to it or whatever.... Could it just be our temporary modem that's causing the 3 MBPS?Does the modem control the MBPS for internet speed?
Well, there are two factors when considering speed. I use cable, which has some differences, but both are limited by two factors. The first limiter is based on the hardware itself. If your device is only capable of 3 MBPS, then no matter what you're paying for, you're only going to get 3 MBPS. The other factor is that the service provider can limit your speed based on your plan (7 MBPS). So once you get that new modem installed and properly registered with Quest, you should be able to get that higher speed. That assumes that your area supports 7 MBPS, but Quest would not sell you a service that you didn't qualify for.
Is the faulty piping internal or external? If it's internal, then it would be your responsibility to fix it. If it's external, you should call Quest.
I think your best bet might be to call customer service, because there are several variables regarding service speed. They can determine what the service issues are (if any).

Well your 25 then you should develop self control by now. Consult your seniors rather than talking to unknown people for useless cause.
Set your messenger to appear invisible to these unknown people and only online to your senoirs.
Please try doing some meditation like yoga it will help you to learn how to focus your mind.
Put a wallpaper on your desktop with a message ';Exams are Near'; or ';I turn on computer to study';
Make a routine I know its difficult to stop it all of a sudden hence keep some time for it rest of the time focus on studies.
This is your life and your future. Unless you want to have waste more time and money retaking the course. Set up a system of rewards and balances. Such as study for 15 minutes...If you can't print the material make index cards in your own handwriting. Set a timer to go off every 15 to 20 minutes and get a partner to study with you or hold you accountable.
You have to find focus. Not sure how but let me know if you figure it out.
im 25.. grown up...
so do what a grown up would do

and when u get it back dont overuse it
Put a timer on it so it shuts off at a certain time which will remind you of why its shutting down and print some of the material of the internet that way ur not on it so much!

When you have a bad habit or something, a good way to stop, is to buy a rubber band like an Armstrong band or something and every time you find yourself doing what ever it is pull it as high off your arm you can and let it snap back... it works.

Should the Internet be censured and controlled? knowledge wise?
I personaly don't think it should be controled or censured because it is slowing down technology and only promote a bunch of thief that take advantage of people for their money and that it is not what people know that is dangerous, but what people want to do. For example the goverment is not censured and look at all the bad things they are doing.
But frenquely, I would really appreciate your opinion on that matter. respond and do it with a sense of professionalism.Should the Internet be censured and controlled? knowledge wise?
No I don't think it should be controlled.
The fantastic amount of websites that are out there providing information are an important part of the internet.
There are of course exceptions to the rule, peadophlia and similar things should be found and removed, but that's my opinion. But is very hard and a constant fight.
But in general, there should be and never will be any sort of control on the internet.
Goverments may try to stop and ban certain content, but there will always be ways around it for the determined

If a major internet web site is trying to control freedom of religion and speech, who do you report it to?
I received an email from a major web site telling me that I was violating their rules, but they wouldn't tell me what rule I was violating? They threatened to terminate my account. How do you correct something wrong without knowing what to correct? I just think they dont like me for some reason. Maybe it's because I'm a Christian and its making unbelievers angry becasue they don't want to hear the Gospel of Christ. You can't control people for that reason. That's discrimination. It's also denial of freedom of speech. If a major internet web site is trying to control freedom of religion and speech, who do you report it to?
Well it's against the 5th ammendment, so who's rules are they? Radicals use scare tactics obviously because they want to control. I would say that happens in any belief so I would ignore it. So I say keep speaking your mind and state why you believe in Christ while at the same time allowing them to believe what that want. We do not force our beliefs onto anyone, we only give our views.
';If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much..'; IF..by Rudyard Kipling. If a major internet web site is trying to control freedom of religion and speech, who do you report it to?
The 5th Amendment? That amendment prevents the Government from conducting unreasonable search and seizure or to force you to testify against and/or incriminate yourself. What does that have to do with anything?
Do what I've been doing. I report every stupid comment or question I see, and it seems to be working.
You want freedom of speech on another person's web site? I'm sure you are aware they made you agree to their conditions before you began posting there, and I'm sure that allowing them to edit and otherwise control all content posted there was part of that agreement. They aren't violating your freedom of speech, you are violating their terms of service.
EDIT: Incidentally, I am a Christian too.
Yahoo deleted something you wrote huh?
Yahoo is allowing you to use a service they are providing without cost. It's like going to a party sponsored by some individual. To stay at the party you have to play by their rules or you get kicked out. Admittedly, Yahoo's rules and procedures aren't the best, but you could go off to another site and talk all you want about whatever you want, but you don't because you like this party. Since Yahoo is allowing you to use their Private resources, they control content--freedom of speech does not apply, just like at work or at a private party.
Whining about getting flagged is common for a variety of different belief systems on the R%26amp;S section. It's not just you or Christians.
The website in question doesnt take any time to read answers, it is an automated system that deletes any posts that generate ';red flags';
Since the website is not the US, and isnt even central only TO the US.. ';free speech'; does not apply. There are many different countries that access the site, and not every country has free speech. They do not hire people to read all the questions, nor all the ';flagged'; questions. It's just ';red flag = violation= deleted';
YA at it again?
Discrimination by an internet company by not allowing your post is not a crime or violation of the Constitution. The Constitution prevents the government from hindering your freedom of religion and/or speech. Certain laws prevent private individuals from discriminating based on race and gender for certain activity such as hiring and/or renting/selling housing.
Unfortunately, unless they're being slanderous, you can't do anything. They have the freedom to sway others because it's their right. There are forces at work that sway our decisions everyday. Look at the media..Newspapers, Television, and Radio are politically biased and yet noone holds them accountable for their views.
you can't, you are using their technology. do your speeches your own technique or way.
You have the right to believe in what ever you choose, you have complete freedom. So do other people, so when you try to preach to them the gospel they don't want to hear it. Believe what you want to believe but let others believe what they want to believe and leave it at that, there is no need to preach to them.
Since the Internet is world wide, freedom of religion and speech vary according to the laws of the country from which the web site emanates. In addition, a private company does not have to allow you freedom of speech. If I work for a bank, lets say, I follow the rules set forth by that bank - if I violate those rules by standing on my desk and shouting at the top of my lungs my religious beliefs, they have every right to sanction me or fire me. You are using a web site that is made and controlled by someone other than yourself - their rules apply. Sorry.
I don't want to hear the gospel of Christ and I don't appreciate having it forced on me when I haven't expressed a desire to hear it-that isn't limiting someone's freedom of expression it's asking that my viewpoint be respected.bella cosmetics

Do you think bill gates is capable of gaining access or control of all pc that has windows OS via internet?
Do you think he wants to access your computer? For what purpose? Are you paranoid or what?
If anything you need to fear a software developer potentially as they could add a back door but that is why you should use a firewall, and a router to protect yourself.Do you think bill gates is capable of gaining access or control of all pc that has windows OS via internet?
You just asked a really good question, then you come along with something this paranoid?!?!? This really doesn't deserve an answer, and you didn't get too many that treated you as if you had brains in your head. What the h*** do you think Bill Gates has need of that he doesn't already have? And why do people resent the fact that the man invented something no one else had invented and grew rich doing it. If you dislike Microsoft so much, please get something else besides Windows 98!Do you think bill gates is capable of gaining access or control of all pc that has windows OS via internet?
No, I really don't, and I think anyone who does think that's likely wants to get their head checked as their paranoia is running right out of control.
He might have a hidden back door in each copy of windows that nobody knows about.
No.
Don't plug Windows to the Internet to be sure.
Yes, now get off the internet

Control panel utilities blocked, internet blocked?
Well i was browsing internet and got this virus out of nowhere, apparently due to holes in the browser security. The problem now is, after 2 days of hell i managed to get a malwarebytes scan going and deleted the 80 trojans, i am still left with the problem of having almost all the applications on the control panel blocked. When i click them nothing happens. When i try to connect to the internet (wireless), it just stays on ';Finding IP address'; infinitely, whilst the task manager says i;m receiving bytes and the number received keeps going higher so i'm thinking crap it's downloading stuff so i can't use the internet! This is really becoming annoying because i have looked and can not find information on whatever the hell this is. Please somebody help? (by the way, hijack log is blocked.)Control panel utilities blocked, internet blocked?

Hi there
Hit F8 on start up.
Try starting in safe mode
Run your anti virus and malware. to try and rid your system of the bugs.
Next try system restore.
If you are unable to clean your hard disk,I would say you are looking at a reformat as your only option.

Just open Internet Explorer, click on TOOLS, and Internet Options.
might be in the recyle bin
are you sure you didn't just move it?
you can get to the same place by opening Internet Explorer and going to the Tools menu...
Did you try the recycle bin? If not, try using system restore. Or open an internet browser, and under tools go to ';Internet Options';.
If you are still having problems, go to all programmes on your start menu, then accessories, system tools and look for the system restore programme, select a time to restore your computer too and this should resolve the problem for youbella cosmetics

might be in the recyle bin
are you sure you didn't just move it?
you can get to the same place by opening Internet Explorer and going to the Tools menu...
Did you try the recycle bin? If not, try using system restore. Or open an internet browser, and under tools go to ';Internet Options';.
If you are still having problems, go to all programmes on your start menu, then accessories, system tools and look for the system restore programme, select a time to restore your computer too and this should resolve the problem for you
HELP! I can't any longer just go BACK one screen while in email or when on the Internet?Have to use control {.
My husband and I just noticed a week or so ago that we had lost the (now intuitive) arrow(or what exactly it was, we can't even remember because it had become so intuitive/natural all the time... to ';go back'; when we are on our computer. Instead, we now have to use something like ';control { (left bracket) '; and I have no idea how my husband even figured that out! This is when I'm using Safari and/or checking email with Yahoo, or both or one. It's all the time now, no ';arrow'; to help us as an option anymore. Any ideas of what's up? Thanks so much!HELP! I can't any longer just go BACK one screen while in email or when on the Internet?Have to use control {.

Information available over the Internet should be controlled?
internet is a vast medium, there are countless resources of information on the internet.
in my opinion there should be some controlled resources of information and some without censor.

Why is my internet for my network being controlled by my computer?

Should there be tighter governmental controls on the internet?
Since the internet is largely a cesspool of information, should the government begin to intervene and start busting people for putting illegal garbage on the net?Should there be tighter governmental controls on the internet?
No, I believe there's something in the Constitution that's called ';Freedom of Speech,'; and giving government control over who could use the internet would be a clear violation of that particular constitutional right... Should there be tighter governmental controls on the internet?
I think you have something there. I think if one is going to get on the internet, every link should take one to a bible verse until you've read the whole bible, then you can go to your favorite porn site.
Not no, but HELL NO! There is enough government interference as it is now.
No. Liberalism is never the answer.

My internet filter isn't on my Control Panel?
It's completely hidden and it blocks over 90 percent of the internet sites and i'm sick of it how can I take it offMy internet filter isn't on my Control Panel?
To answer your question we need to know what type of filter is on.
When you are blocked what message do you get?
You could also speak to the person(s) who applied the filter and ask them to make it less rigorous. IE. let you access at least 90% of the sites you want to and only block those that might damage your system or be dangerous in some other sense.

Please help
thanksInternet Explorer closes yahoo mail after control x enabling?
Hi,
This has been going on for several weeks now. It is a glitch between IE7 and BETA MAIL.
This is the only thing that I have found for a fix until testing is over. So, if you don't have BETA MAIL or IE 7, I don't have any help for you!
Error fixes before glitch: However, they don't seem to be helping since the testing has begun:
CANNOT COMPOSE REPLY OR SEND MAIL
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/send/鈥?/a>
YOUR LOG-IN SESSION HAS EXPIRED:
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/acces鈥?/a>
CAN NOT FIND SERVER: Go to Tools, Internet Options and on the general tab, Delete Cookies. That should do it for you!
Other Problems:
I believe it will solve most all the problems people are having if you Switch Back to Original Mail, until it is out of the TESTING STAGE. Please try it and if it doesn't solve your problem just SWITCH BACK TO BETA MAIL!!!
Tech Dept. says to Switch Back to ORIGINAL MAIL if you are having the String Verification Problem.
NOTE: Use BETA software at your own risk; it is intended for testing and evaluation purposes only. Do not install beta software on your primary computer or production environment.
The following is from another Asker that I responded to, and their feedback to me. It pertained to the Message string verification problem.
Asker's Rating:
';Going back to Original Mail did solve the problem. I can now send emails. I was still using IE6, so that was not the issue.';
Hope this helps youInternet Explorer closes yahoo mail after control x enabling?
This did not help.
I also have not heard from yahoo tech support after I mailed the question to them.
Either they don`t want to know, or just don`t care. ;o(
One thing is certain, I won`t be trusting yahoo`s service any longer.
Yahoo has been having major server issues since at LEAST last Wednesday.
I've had to use another acct.provided free by my ISP to send/rcv important e-mails since last Wed., and it's been working just fine the whole time.
And since that original posting, they've also sent another e-mail that they've escalated the problem (or should I say problems!) to their engineering department, which is an indication of major problems, and not just a minor S/W ';glitch.';bella cosmetics

Is there any way to block the internet without buying a program or using parental controls?
I want to block the internet until 5 pm. Can anyone tell me how to without using parental controls or buying software? And how to undo it?Is there any way to block the internet without buying a program or using parental controls?
the easiest way is to change your sign in password and don't let anyone see it then at 5pm sign in for who ever you want to use itIs there any way to block the internet without buying a program or using parental controls?
You can block the internet just by killing the internet service access: by typing ';services.msc'; from run to open your services, Scroll all the way down to ';Nework Connections'; --%26gt; right click on it and click stop to kill it. This will stop your internet and you can always restart it again.
Another way is to you an internet firewall to block it if you have it.
hope this work for you
Unplug your modem or router! That's the best way.
turn it off, unplug the cable, put a box over the computer
otherwise you need parental controls
Some routers allow you specify a day and time any specific computer on your home network can access the internet. However, you will need a router that has this feature. Apple's Airport Extreme is one of the easiest - though there are others.
erm turn off your router! to undo it plug back in your router
