I have now downloaded firefox. In my control panel add and remove,is it safe to delete internet explorer.?

no- the pc needs it for many other things and there are still a few websites that require IE-I have now downloaded firefox. In my control panel add and remove,is it safe to delete internet explorer.?
Internet Explorer is entwined into the Windows operating system. Furthermore, Outlook Express is a component of Internet Explorer. Any attempt to delete IE (unless you a rolling back from IE7 to IE6 for XP operating systems) can corrupt your critical system files, render Outlook Express inoperable, cause performance issues, inhibit security updates, and create an unstable platform.

If you have been attempting to uninstall it, you may want to run SFC (System File Checker). To run SFC, close all applications such as Office, Messenger, Email, etc, and go to:

- Start

- Run

- Type in sfc /scannow (include the space before the '; / ';)

What SFC does is that it attempts to fix or replace critical operating system files. Sometimes this can be done without the installation disk, however it may prompt you for the appropriate operating system installation disk. If that is the case, then you know that you definitely have major file corruption or something missing. Insert the disk if prompted. Also you should run SFC using the Administrator account.

If you have the Vista operating system, the steps are a bit different due to the UAC. See the link below.

Don't surf, play games or do anything while SFC runs. After it is completed, reboot your computer.I have now downloaded firefox. In my control panel add and remove,is it safe to delete internet explorer.?
MLM has a very good point---dont delete IE---just remove the icon from the desktop ---Internet Explorer is a part of the Windows operating system----Windows might become unstable if you do ----even when IE is lying ';unused'; in Program Files if you ever open IE again you will be surprised to find that the History item was all along active and has entries of all websites browsed and items downloaded!!!
Why delete it, it doesn't take up that much space. Also, sometimes web browsers start acting strange and it's good to have a back up. I would keep it just in case you want to switch for some reason.
I wouldn't delete it, you may need it some day, and what if firefox crashes? you wont have anything to fall back on. Keep your internet explorer, I did, I never use it, but its there just in case.
don't uninstall IE explorer.use firefox as your default browser.certain features like downloading an album from won't work properly in firefox.but firefox is the best.
Yes you can but use the ';Add/Remove Windows Components';. Just uncheck the box.
You can't delete Internet Explorer (Windows), you can only delete the icon. It's there to stay.
yes, if you want it again download it from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/product鈥?/a>
Yes, I did and love my firefox.
