One can be ';reported'; or have ones question/answer deleted from yahoo but at the same time , if one chooses, recieve highly explicit, gruesome and offensive material over the net.
Is this not double standards and has the net lost its format for absolute freedom of expression?Has the internet system and its service providers become censored and thus controlled ?
There really is no intent of 'absolute freedom', on the net or anywhere else. There are always rules and limitations. That is the basis of our society. Since this particular site is privately owned by Yahoo, they get to make the rules -- and enforce them as well. Other sites can do the same.
The only thing that absolute freedom on the internet will ultimately do is cause absolute privacy invasion.Has the internet system and its service providers become censored and thus controlled ?
The problem is that there is no one person who controls the Internet. All websites, like yahoo, are privately owned and therefore are allowed to set their own rules as long as they do not violate federal law.
