If you are using windows XP try doing a system restore to an earlier date .


If that fails use the desktop search for all files containing Info for IE 8





System restore should fix it tho;





You should be given the Option to ''repair-install-or delete in add revove programs of control panel





There is a possibility you also have a corrupt file from the download.\





Next suggestion is download Firefox and stop using IE all together
